Model county, model campaign

You can’t pass through Anne’s Street in Wexford town without being aware of our campaign to Defend the State Pension.

Street stands have been set up near the post office and outside the credit union encouraging shoppers to sign our petition to An Taoiseach not to cut the State Pension and related supports in the coming budget.

Supporters in Wexford are well organised, sending delegations to ask their local TDs how they would vote if cuts to the State Pension were proposed in the coming budget.

Sean Kinsella, chairman of the Wexford Branch of the Irish Senior Citizen’s Parliament said, ‘We in the model county are committed to making the voice of older people heard and also seen on this important issue – that is why we are bringing our message directly to TDs in their clinics  and also talking to people on the street ’.
