Urgent meeting with Tánaiste to Reverse Cuts

Older & Bolder has requested as a matter of urgency a meeting with the Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore.

Older & Bolder welcomes the Tánaiste's public naming of the HSE cuts as ‘regrettable’ and we urge him to translate his misgivings into action. Older and Bolder is calling for the immediate reversal of the cuts and is looking to have an urgent meeting with the Tánaiste to this effect.

Ms. Patricia Conboy, Director of Older & Bolder said, “We are urging the Tánaiste to translate his recent public statements about the HSE cuts into action. The Tánaiste has spoken about ensuring that services continue to those who need care and assistance. We’re calling on him to turn these comments into action through the reversal of these savage cuts because the reality is that they do not make human sense or economic sense”.

She continued: “The HSE cuts to will inflict intolerable pain on distressed individuals and families and cost the State more in the long run.  These cuts fly in the face of long-standing policy and clear commitments in the Programme for Government to develop and invest in home and community care services”.

Ms. Conboy continued: “We have requested an urgent meeting with Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore. We are calling on this Government to honour the political commitments they have made in the Programme for Government and reverse these cruel cuts to Home Care services.”
